The most common laser skin care procedure available today is hair removal. There are many other types of laser skin care treatments which can remove wrinkles, brown spots, blood vessels, and even tighten skin. Laser skin care treatments for skin rejuvenation or anti-aging are becoming one of the most common skin treatments in use today. The applications of this new light technology for laser skin care today are:

o	Skin Exfoliation or Skin Peel - Lasers can be used to peel or exfoliate the skin to remove dead skin and smooth wrinkles and fine lines. Once the dead skin and surface of the wrinkles are removed, you see new shiny skin on the surface of your face. The skin can form new cells daily and deep skin peel is a very effective way to stimulate the production of new facial skin cells. These treatments also stimulate new collagen production in the deeper dermal layers of the skin. Benefits are:

Smooth Fresh Skin

Wrinkle Removal

These peels usually requires some down time for redness and healing. This is because the peel is an ablative procedure which means the dead skin cells and wrinkles are ablated or removed. More modern peel or resurfacing called fractional resurfacing is also effective and recovery time is 4-5 days, about a third of the recovery time required by traditional CO2 resurfacing done in the past. Common fractional ablative skin care machines are: Lux2940(TM), Fraxel Repair(TM), ActiveFX(TM) and ProFractional(TM) to name a few.

o	Non-ablative Stimulation of New Collagen in The Deep Skin Layer, The Dermis – A major cause of wrinkles and acne scars is loss of collagen in the deep layer of the facial skin called the dermis. Sun damage kills the collagen in the dermis of the skin and when the collagen dies the skin loses volume, shrinks and loses elasticity. These changes result in wrinkles and sagging skin. This effect is not unlike what happens to a nice plump plum which is dried in the sun. After the plum loses its inner water volume, the skin wrinkles and you have a prune.

New Non-ablative Fractional Lasers can stimulate the production of new collagen deep in the dermis of the skin. Because the skin is not ablated or removed, there is no down time as with the ablative fractional machines mentioned earlier. Benefits of the non-ablative fractional skin care treatments are:

Skin Plumping

Scar Removal

Wrinkle Improvement

Pigment Removal

o	Treatment of Pigment and Facial Skin Photo-damage – The aging effects of the sun, called photo damage or photo aging, are not only dry skin and wrinkles but also pigment, called brown spots, sun spots, age spots, and “liver spots”. Light technology is very effective for removing pigment and photo-damage. The peel or resurfacing strips away excess pigment. The non-ablative treatments are also effective at deeper pigment removal such as Melasma or mask of pregnancy.

Today Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), also called photo-facial is used most commonly for pigment removal. The IPL is excellent for removing brown spots and is the gentlest method.

o Skin Tightening – Laser skin tightening is possible but less effective than other skin tightening methods. Resurfacing or deep peeling does tighten skin a bit because deep dermal injury stimulates new collagen production in the skin. The new collagen is tighter and the tighter collagen tightens the skin. This effect takes months after the ablative peel skin care treatment and is not nearly as noticeable as a face lift.

Newer and more effective skin tightening treatments are possible. The more effective skin tightening treatments are done with Infrared or Radiofrequency energy with machines like LuxIR Deep(TM), Thermage(TM), Titan(TM), and Refirme(TM) to mention a few.

o Remove Broken Blood Vessels, Red Spots and Rosacea on the Face – Photo-aging and sun damage cause broken blood vessels on the facial skin, especially around the nose and cheeks. Lasers can be used to remove broken blood vessels on the face and legs. Both the 532 and 1064 Yag wavelengths are useful for removal of broken blood vessels.

However the newer IPL and Photo-facial treatments are very effective for removing blood vessels, produce less down time and are used more frequently today. The 1064 Yag is the choice for larger broken blood vessels and leg veins.

o	Hair Removal - Hair removal is the most commonly performed medical skin care procedure done today. There are many different machines and IPL’s for hair removal. I prefer the diode called the Lightshear Diode(TM) for hair removal-I believe it is safer for darker skin types.

o	Tattoo Removal -Tattoo removal was one of the first applications of this new light therapy for treating the skin. There are many different wavelengths for tattoo removal and the wavelength is chosen for the specific color of the tattoo to be removed. Tattoo removal takes many treatments over a long period of time, but is preferable to surgery which can leave scars.

The indications listed above are the most widely used applications for lasers in treatment of the skin. Each of these applications is best accomplished with a specific wavelength which is best and most appropriate for the skin condition to be treated.

Chose the Right Doctor

I strongly recommend that you seek consultation with two board certified doctors who specialize in laser treatments. Typically board certified dermatologists and plastic surgeons are the most experienced doctors with this new technology.

These new forms of light therapy can achieve remarkable benefits in skin care but the treatment is only as good as the doctor who is giving the treatment. In untrained or unskilled hands these new technologies can burn the skin, damage the eyes, and cause injury. I certainly do not recommend having these treatments in a Spa unless a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon with experience and expertise is present.

Learn more about what these remarkable technological marvels can achieve on our skin.

It is beneficial to fight different kind of diseases, most of all to fight cancer. This wonder food is purported to fight cancer, control cholesterol, increase energy, improve your sex life and help you lose weight.

They have two important ingredients that are known to fight cancer. It has the great potential to fight cancer especially in the role of prevention of breast cancer. Federal Government on research to fight cancer and other deadly diseases.

Lignans, which help fight cancer are found in high quantity in wakame (kelp) and may provide protection against certain cancers. Likewise, eating a lot of fruits and vegetables can prevent colon cancer because these foods are rich in fiber, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that can fight cancer. Those who promote the hormone theory believe it can slow down or reverse aging, fight cancer and enhance sexuality.

These Brassica veggies including watercress, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli sprouts, Brussels Sprouts, arugula, and kale, have been shown to fight cancer by inhibiting carcinogenesis, excreting carcinogens via liver detoxification, inducing death of cancer cells, and inhibiting tumors.

“My hope is that through my work, other women will enjoy these original jewelry pieces while knowing they are raising awareness and supporting one of the most important issues facing women today – ovarian cancer.

One of the issues all breast cancer survivors must deal with is the long-term side effect that can arise post therapy. Antiandrogens have seen a connection to producing fewer issues of sexual dysfunction than other types of hormonal prostate cancer medications. For instance, a Japanese research team addressed those issues in their article, “Regular Consumption of Green Tea and the Risk of Breast Cancer Recurrence: Follow-up Study from the Hospital-based Epidemiologic Research Program at Aichi Cancer Center (HERPACC), Japan.

Another organization is Cancer Care Incorporated who provide a telephone support service for all cancer issues, and this includes medical information, cancer terms and definitions, counseling, guidance on local services, free information material, as well as information on local support groups to the patients area as well as an abundance of educational programs on cancer matters.

Cancer affects more people than the sufferer alone. Although they bare the brunt of the physical pain, their suffering has a huge affect on friends and family too, which can be very distressing. It’s therefore not surprising that in addition to cancer help groups for sufferers themselves, many forms of support for friends and families of cancer sufferers have also risen up. Help is available in a range of mediums; self help groups, one on one counselors, phone lines, internet forums and traditional publications such as books and leaflets.

Cancer tends to have more than just emotional implications; the cost of cancer can be very substantial, especially if the sufferer is a bread winner. However, help is at hand as there are benefits that sufferers and their families can apply for. The Disability and Carers Service is a government body that is responsible for the disability benefits, disability livings allowance and attendance allowance and also carer’s allowance, and there are help lines which you can ring to see whether you qualify for financial help.

These help lines will also be able to offer advice on other financial matters such as insurance. As cancer is considered a pre-existing medical condition by most insurers, getting travel insurance from a normal broker can be difficult. Therefore, it’s normally better to go to a specialist who is prepared to look into your individual circumstances in detail and evaluate the situation.

It’s not just financial information that cancer sufferers and their friends and family need. Often, there is a great desire for more knowledge of the condition itself. People want to know as much as they can about what’s happening to them, what is likely to happen to them in the future, and how they can do things to help themselves.

Thankfully, the world is awash with books, magazines, journals and websites about every type of cancer that exists. There are also cancer support information centres throughout the UK which you can visit in person to speak to specialists and pick up leaflets, booklets and audio-visual materials.

Cancer can be very tough for all involved, but remember there is help available to you every step of the way. From the medical help you’ll receive at the hospital, to the emotional support you can get from phoning a help line or attending a self help group, to the help available online when you log on to a cancer sufferers’ forum and share your problems with hundreds of people who are going through the same thing, help, support and advice is always there.

Can sugar free drinks make you fat? Is diet soda just as detrimental to your healthy eating and your fat loss goals as drinks with added sugar? Let’s find out…

First off, I’m going to ask you if you can do me a little favor. Can you raise your hand if you believe diet soda is a “healthy” alternative to full-sugar soft drinks?

Yep, that’s quite a few hands I see raised in the air.

Here’s another question: Hands up if you know somebody, or you’ve ever heard a stranger talking out loud about how they love to choose sugar free soft drinks.

“I’m on a diet, better get the diet soda.” Or my old favorite: “Diet soda is good for you, did you know it has no sugar content at all?”

Here come those hands again. Even more waving at me this time!

Better put them down now though, you look kinda weird sitting there waving your hand at the screen.

Well it might shock you to learn that there is absolutely nothing even remotely healthy about diet soda!

Artificial Sweeteners Can Make You Fat

It might sound crazy, but even though the artificial sweeteners in sugar free drinks have no calorific value (zero calories) there is evidence to show that they cause you to gain weight.

But that’s not all. There is good evidence to support the theory that “diet” drinks are even more fattening than those loaded with sugar!

Wait a minute, what the deuce!?

How Your Body Reacts To Artificial Sweeteners

Did you know that the number of calories you eat is actually less important than where your calories are coming from when it comes to weight loss? It’s all about your body’s hormonal response to the calories you eat.

In the case of diet soda there are no calories, but the chemicals you are drinking trick the body into believing it’s eating something sweet.

One of the most commonly used artificial sweeteners is Aspartame (just check your ingredients). This little bad boy will actually prevent your body from producing serotonin (responsible for controlling appetite amongst other things).

And what does your body do when it is suffering from low serotonin levels? It tells your body to go and get some of the foods that it knows will stimulate the release of the chemical.

And guess what, this just happens to be the waistline expanding, high-calorie, carbohydrate-rich, processed “junk” foods that every dieter fears!

So there you have it; sugar free soda is encouraging your cravings for junk food. Bad news.

Your Insulin Response

As strange as this may sound, scientist have gathered evidence that zero-calorie artificial sweeteners stimulate the release of insulin. Insulin causes your cells to absorb blood sugar. Your cells then use this blood sugar for energy.

However, artificial sweeteners contain no sugar (of course). So your body is left feeling tricked with no food to feed your cells. Not to be outdone, if there is no food for your body to process, it had better go out and get some! And of course, this triggers your appetite!

Again you will be experiencing strong junk food cravings as you search for that “quick sugar fix”. But as we all know, the quick fix is closely followed by a “crash” and yet more hunger pains and cravings. Not to mention the fact the sugar low leaves you feeling terrible!

Just think about how many time you’ve told yourself “man, I need a sugar hit”. You know that candy bar is bad for you, but you NEED it! Wouldn’t you like to get rid of these cravings or control them if you had the chance?

Diet Soda Linked To Obesity?

A study conducted at the University of Texas has proven some very frightening links between drinking diet soft drinks and obesity.

Sharon Fowler and colleagues conducted an 8-year study on the links between soft drink use and weight gain.

“What didn’t surprise us was that total soft drink use was linked to overweight and obesity,” Fowler tells WebMD. “What was surprising was when we looked at people only drinking diet soft drinks, their risk of obesity was even higher.”

The researchers made a shocking discovery when it came to diet soda.

“There was a 41% increase in risk of being overweight for every can or bottle of diet soft drink a person consumes each day.”

I think the results of this study are very conclusive. It just goes to show that diet soda is not the “healthy” alternative that soft drinks companies would have us believe. If you are serious about your health, and serious about losing weight then you need to leave soda on the shelf.

WE need money to buy things from other people. Why do we need to do that? It is a silly question because as all of us have known since we were a little kid that in our life we cannot provide everything for ourselves. We have limitation in life and we cannot life alone. This is the theory that has created what all of us have known as civilization. It is a group of people that live in certain area together and support each other as they live on. The key to a civilization is money.

It is the glue that stick the civilization together and without that there will be no interaction and the whole civilization will crumble apart. This is not something we could have wanted to happen in case we want to survive this cruel world. That is why you need to have an adequate amount of money to continue survive in this world and when this thing does not happen you can always try to obtain cash advance online on the internet. It is open for everybody as long as you have the confidence that you can pay the money you have loaned. This is a very important thing while you want to grab the money you need online.

Concierge medicine has had somewhat of a “brand/identity” issue in the media and health care marketplace. Concierge medicine (also known as “Direct Care” and sometimes closely aligned with the term “Direct Primary Care”) is a term used to describe a relationship with a primary care physician in which the patient pays an affordable fee for access and cost effective care with their primary care doctor.

Concierge medicine has had somewhat of a “brand/identity” issue in the media and health care marketplace. It has also been referred to as: membership medicine; boutique medicine; retainer-based medicine; concierge health care; cash only practice; direct care; direct primary care and direct practice medicine. While a typical physician can carry a patient load of 2,500+ patients, a concierge physician generally limits their practice to between 300-600 patients or more. While all concierge medicine practices share similarities, they vary widely in their structure, payment requirements, and form of operation. In particular, they differ in the level of service provided and the amount of the fee charged. There are an estimated 5,000 concierge, or membership medicine doctors throughout the U.S., according to SIMPD. However, there is only one organization tracking the specific number of concierge/direct primary care practices in the U.S. today, Concierge Medicine Today, an online news agency dedicated to educating traditional practice physicians and patients about the cost effectiveness and value these types of practices can provide to both physicians and patients.

This term also refers to those primary care and family practice physicians who have chosen to provide healthcare services in a more convenient, accessible and cost efficient manner to their patients. These physicians charge patients a membership fee ranging from $600 to $1,800/year and higher. In exchange for this fee, concierge practices generally include 24/7 access to a personal physicians’ cell phone, same-day appointments with no waiting, personal coordination of care with specialists, personal follow up when admitted to a hospital or ER, house calls, and more.

There are many women who consider aborting their child at home. But they are ignorant of the negative consequences associated with home abortion methods. If you are considering terminating your pregnancy, you’ve got to know the risks you are facing.

Dangers to your body

A natural approach may be good when you are dealing with something like a remedy for pimples, but in case of an abortion, it is just not the way to go.If you try to abort your fetus at home, you may cause serious damage to your own body and health.

Incomplete abortion

If the process does not work fully, only a part of the fetus may be expelled from the body, or the dead fetus may remain inside and only tissues and fragments are thrown out. To complete the abortion, you must undergo the process of Dilation and Curettage. This procedure scrapes the interior of the uterus and takes out what has been left behind.

Too much bleeding

All women bleed after abortion, but excessive bleeding is not natural. This could be due to a tear in the uterus or the tubes or the cervix, and remaining tissue. And home abortion may lead to heavy bleeding.

Prone to Infections

These are the most potent source of danger in case of any abortion, surgical or not. If you are not well, have a fever, or just feel uneasy, you need to see the doctor and get good treatment. Abortion related infections may cause infertility, and even death.

Mental hazards

Psychological imbalance following an abortion at home is not uncommon. Depression is rampant among women who choose not to give birth. Regrets relating to the abortion are responsible for this, usually due to lack of professional counseling.

Its a shame that so many women that have unplanned pregnancies actually research the variety of home abortion methods documented by some shady websites on the net. Especially when you know how beneficial it would be to the mother and child if the abortion never occurred, and was instead adopted out to a loving family. Terminations performed at home rarely end well.

There are four main kinds of germs that cause infectious diseases. Bacteria are single-cell germs that have the ability to multiply rapidly and release chemicals that will make you sick. Viruses are capsules containing genetic information and use your own cells to multiply.

Fungi are vegetable-like mushrooms or mildew that will make you ill and protozoa are single-cell predators that are looking for a host where they can eat and live. The idea of contracting communicable diseases is enough to make anyone want to live in a bubble, but the body is naturally very resilient, so simply washing your hands can avoid most trouble.

There are viral, contagious diseases like AIDS, Smallpox, Ebola, Hepatitis, sexually transmitted Herpes or HPV, Influenza, Measles, Mumps, Rabies, SARS, West Nile, Meningitis, Mono, Pneumonia and Yellow Fever. Then there are bacterial, transmittable diseases like Anthrax, Botulism, Cat Scratch Fever, Cholera, Diphtheria, Gonorrhea, Leprosy, Lyme disease, Strept Throat, Salmonella, Scarlet Fever, Tuberculosis, Typhus and Shingles. Some transferable diseases are transmitted via parasites, such as Chagas Disease, Malaria, Pinworm Infection, Scabies, Trichomoniasis, Giardiasis, Echinococcosis and other rare diseases. Other times, diseases are transmitted through fungus or prion (proteins).

When dealing with an infectious disease, the first step is the infection, when microbes enter your body and begin to multiply. Health experts say the infection becomes a disease when cells in your body become damaged and the symptoms of illness appear. White blood cells and antibodies will attempt to ward your body off from the infection, which results in fevers, coughing, sneezing or other ailments.

Once the disease takes hold, medication will be needed. It’s important to know the difference between infectious diseases caused by bacteria or by a virus because medications that may treat one are ineffective against treating the other. Bacterial infections caused by single-celled living organisms are treated with antibacterial antibiotics. Viral infections, which alter genetic capsules, cannot be treated with medication directly but may have the symptoms assuaged with lozenges, rest, water, decongestants, cough syrups and pain relievers.

Infectious diseases are no laughing matter. If you are coughing and nose blowing all over the place but feel tempted to go to work, then resist and rest. Not all diseases are contagious, but it’s better to be safe than sorry. Avoid sharing drinks or personal items with people and remember that prevention is the best cure.

According to the Center for Disease Control, there are seven steps you can take to prevent infection at home: always wash your hands, routinely clean AND disinfect all kitchen and bathroom surfaces, follow food safety precautions to prevent under-cooking meat or cross-contaminating surfaces, get immunized, use antibiotics properly, keep your pets clean and stay away from wild animals. Don’t be one of the 160,000 Americans who die from an infectious disease each year!

The following article provides some insight into why good skin care is important and suggests a simple skin care regime anyone can follow to help your skin perform at its best.

Our skin’s functions are too many to go through here in detail, however it protects our ‘insides’ from the external environment, acting both as a barrier and a filter between ‘outside’ and ‘inside’ our bodies.

The skin helps in regulating our body’s temperature, like when we have a fever or we’re physically working hard, we tend to sweat, which is the body’s way to attempt to lower the temperature.

The skin also protects us from harmful substances entering our body, and it eliminates many toxins. This takes workload off our Liver and Kidneys to filter out by-products from our body’s metabolism. The skin also breathes!

These are just some of the important functions of our skin and as you can see, looking after your skin is vital, not just for your outer beauty, but for maintaining your inner health.

Now there is skin care and there is skin care… well, we all (hopefully) wash our body (skin) every day and we may even rub some body cream on and that is pretty much that. Women (most) go one step further when they make-up their face. Often using a cleanser and then a moisturiser before applying make-up. But is that really skin care?

I think not. I would consider it an attack on the skin rather than caring for it. You see, most of the products marketed to women are full of artificial colours, stabilisers, emulsifiers and other chemical, which are supposed to help in achieving a ‘beautiful complexion’.

Some products are advertising hormones, which are supposed to make your skin re-gain that youthful (no wrinkles) look – but more often than not these ‘hormones’ are artificial or synthetic and may well cause problems with the hormonal balance of the body. This is NOT Skin care – this is plain old manipulation and marketing.

Real skin care is much more than that and is more than just skin deep. Your skin is a living, breathing organ of your body. As such, just like every other organ in our body, it needs to be fed from the inside – it requires nutrients.

There are 4 basic ingredients to feeding the inside:
Good nutrition: keep it simple, fresh and unprocessed. That is the best nutritional advice I can give. The simpler the food, the less processing and the fresher your food is, the better it is for you. Fresh fruit and vegetables contain so many of the nutrients we need to maintain our health. Sure have the odd processed, high in fat meal when you’re enjoying a meal out or have to attend a Luncheon or what ever. But make sure you have more natural foods than not. Keep the diet varied – don’t eat the same old, same old… risk a new veggie – one you haven’t tried before – you might like it …

Adequate rest and relaxation: don’t work yourself to an early grave – it’s not worth it. Make sure you get the sleep you need. Did you know that a study in England showed that your IQ (intelligence) drops if you do not have 8 hours sleep per night?

Think about it, do you get more work done if you feel well rested? Can you concentrate better if you’re not tired? – I bet you can.

Well, why not invest some additional time into rest and relaxation so that you gain an increase in energy and concentration? I’m sure you will find you will get more work done in less time if you’ve had sufficient rest.

Sufficient water intake: that’s a biggie. Most people (irrespective of were they live) will utilise around 3 litres of water per day – hey, don’t believe me, all the medical texts say so. Our body simply needs water to function.

If you do not drink at least this amount, your body will either not function well (on some level) or it will take it from where ever it can. That is called dehydration. You know, dry lips, dry flaky skin, parched mouth, cracks on you tongue, premature wrinkles… the list goes on. So, drink up (water, mind you) or shrivel up – it’s up to you.

Fresh air and sunshine: well, what can I say. Taking a deep breath of air and tell me it doesn’t feel great… Well? Oxygen is the stuff of life. Fill your lungs with it. Here I could go into how most of us do not know how to breath properly, but I’ll save this for another article.

So what does all this have to do with skin care?
Well, that is the point of putting expensive, beauty products on your skin, when you do not give it the stuff of life from the inside? The cells that make up your skin need the right nutrients for proper development, growth and all that… You can help your skin by using good quality skin care products, but you have to support this from the inside as well. Only in that way can you expect to get good results from proper skin care.

So what’s proper skin care?

Well, for starters there are 3 basic steps.

1. Cleanse and Condition

2. Hydrate and Tone

3. Moisturise and Revive.

OK. Cleansing the skin seems obvious and I know, you do know how to use soap – wrong, this is one sure way to make your skin dry-out quicker. Most soaps remove the natural oils of the skin, change the natural pH levels and do nothing to remove the dead layers of skin, which can block your pores and lead to blackheads. And, oh no, not pimples! The skin produces oils and acids to help it function, to protect it from loss of excessive moisture, to form a barrier… etc. So please do not use soap or detergents unless it is necessary.

Using a loofah or a gentle ‘scrub’ will remove the dead skin cells and this in turn will promote better blood circulation and help your skin to breath.

The next step is to hydrate and tone the skin. Say what?
Well, you’ve just removed the dead skin layers, rubbing the skin with a loofah and or a specially formulated cleanser, now it’s time to remove the residue, sooth the skin and prepare the skin for getting a good feed of nutrients from the moisturiser.

Preparation of the skin prior to putting on the moisturiser is not dissimilar to preparing a surface about to receive a new coat of paint. You wouldn’t just paint over a wall that hasn’t been cleaned and prepared for the new paint, would you? It would be a waist of time and money… well, good skin care is the same. You first get rid of the old layer of paint, than you give it a primer and finally the top-coat.

Ah, I already use a moisturiser…
Great, at least that’s a step in the right direction. But, have you looked at the ingredients? Are they natural, or are there numbers and words you don’t recognise on the label? If so, then consider that your body absorbs these substances and if they are not useful, (preferably of a natural kind) then the body has to eliminate them – and that’s more work and not necessary.

In some cases, the body actually can’t eliminate these substances and has to store them. This is a potential problem and could cause health issues down the track. Pure essential oils, or herbal extracts are usually good ingredients to have in your skin care products.

So there you have it – the importance of good skin care. These steps, if you follow them, will help you to achieve the results you want and your body will thank you too.
